Aloha (AD6E/KH6TU) reminds that the Hawaii QSO Party is coming up this
weekend. Here is a chance to put Hawaii on the map for many looking for
their first Hawaii contact. This is one contest where the mainland and
DX station point the beams at us. Let’s show them Aloha.

This operating event will run from 0400Z 28 August to 0359Z 29 August.
Note this actually starts Friday evening at 6 pm HST. Please work as
many stations on as many bands and modes as you can.
The Ohio and Kansas QSO parties will be on during the same time. You can
work them for credit although you need to put their QTH as OH or KS
instead of the county name they give you. If in doubt, ask them.

If you’re not sure, check the detail maps. The areas are based on zip
code.
All digital modes (RTTY, FT8, FT4, PSK, whatever) are considered
“digital” so there are three modes to use: CW, Phone, Digital. I
hope to work you on each band with all three modes.
FT8 has been an accepted mode for “digital” for the past two years.
This year it gets more complicated since the WW Digi contest will be
going on at the same time. We have modified our rules such that any
contact you make in WW Digi is also acceptable to HQP. Unfortunately,
N1MM, Writelog, and others cannot log a grid square with the normal HQP
log module. Therefore you may want to switch between two different logs.
One for FT that uses the WW Digi module and a different log using the
HQP module for SSB and CW.
The log upload web page will have two upload boxes. If you only have one
log that’s great, use the first box only. If you have two logs, no
problem – then use both boxes. We really want to see both logs if you
are keeping two. Please don’t try to combine them.
