What radio should I buy as my first one? – Recently a budding new amateur asked the question: ‘What radio should I buy?’ It’s a common question, one I asked a decade ago. Over the years I’ve made several attempts at answering this innocent introduction into our community and as I’ve said before, the answer is simple but unhelpful – ‘It depends.’

The Hawaii Island June Hamfest and ARRL Field Day Event will be held at Laupahoehoe Point, Saturday, 26 June 2021.  The Hamfest begins at 10 a.m. HST, while Field Day activities start at 8 a.m. HST.  Talk-in on 442.550 MHz, PLL 110.9 Hz.
