Well what a silly week. Sweet FA really till Saturday and Sunday. Little bits of DX about. FG4SO (Guadeloupe), V51WH (Namibia), ZD7FT (St Helena), 9J2BS (Zambia) along with a pair of YVs (Venezuela), YV5NEA, and YV5IUA. Both the YV QRZ.com pages are worth a look for wonderful scenery

Direct entry to Full Licence: RSGB Consultation
The RSGB’s Examination Standards Committee (ESC) has just launched a consultation to ask for the views of the amateur radio community on a new, Direct to Full licence exam which would run in parallel with the existing three-tier system

ARRL to consider covering young members license fee
At its meeting on January 15-16 the ARRL Board considered a plan to pay the planned FCC license application fee for young radio amateurs

CAPE-3 CubeSat launched
The University of Louisiana (UL) at Lafayette student-built CAPE-3 satellite was launched on January 17. A 1-U CubeSat, CAPE-3 includes a ‘digipeater and experimental UHF adaptive radio’

KHLO-AM (Hilo), KKBG-FM (KBIG-FM)(Hilo/Kona), KAPA-FM (Hilo-Kona). Native-FM (Hilo-Kona), and ESPN Hawaii (Hilo-Kona). Former University of Hawaii-Hilo librarian. Retired Air Force Officer. Amateur (Ham) Radio operator since 1977 (currently holds the Amateur Extra Class License from the FCC-KH6JRM).... Can read, write, and speak Russian. Retired on 30 September 2011, but still maintains a Hawaii Island News Blog.
