5 MHz band in South Africa
South Africa’s SARL has asked the communications regulator ICASA to allow radio amateurs a 100 kHz wide allocation in the 5 MHz (60m) band with 400 watts output

Worked All ZS 60 metre Award
The SARL is challenging radio amateurs to use the 60 metre band and work towards the SARL Worked All ZS award

KHLO-AM (Hilo), KKBG-FM (KBIG-FM)(Hilo/Kona), KAPA-FM (Hilo-Kona). Native-FM (Hilo-Kona), and ESPN Hawaii (Hilo-Kona). Former University of Hawaii-Hilo librarian. Retired Air Force Officer. Amateur (Ham) Radio operator since 1977 (currently holds the Amateur Extra Class License from the FCC-KH6JRM).... Can read, write, and speak Russian. Retired on 30 September 2011, but still maintains a Hawaii Island News Blog.

    The FCC is closed today (Friday, June 18) in observance of the new Juneteenth federal holiday. Juneteenth, officially observed on June 19, celebrates the end of slavery in the US. Amateur radio applications and exam sessions filed after Thursday, June 17, night will not be processed until Monday, June 21.
