FCC reduces proposed Amateur Radio Application Fee to $35
The FCC has agreed with ARRL and other commenters that its proposed $50 fee for certain amateur radio applications was “too high to account for the minimal staff involvement in these applications.”

ARISS contact scheduled for students on Santa Cruz Island, Ecuador
Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) has received schedule confirmation for an ARISS radio contact with astronauts. Tony’s 10m Band Report
A drab week but Friday to Sunday were better. Most popular DX was probably OD5TX, VK3EW, LA2IMA, ZD7FT, SX2500S and some others.

I worked a couple of Scottish stations on 10m at good signal strengths, +6, unusual. It is gratifying to twist the beam around and see the signals go down then up. Then I worked Namibia, V51WH

US radio hams to be charged $35 fee
The FCC is to impose a $35 fee on amateur radio licenses which used to be free

Amateur (Ham) Radio operator since 1977 (currently holds the Amateur Extra Class License from the FCC-KH6JRM).... Can read, write, and speak Russian. Retired on 30 September 2011, but still maintains a Hawaii Island News Blog.
