IARU and amateur radio 23 cm band
The Chair of IARU Region 1 Spectrum Affairs, Barry Lewis G4SJH, reports the IARU is fully engaged in the 23 cm band / Galileo radio navigation satellite service coexistence studies in CEPT

Austria: Limited ham radio greetings message facility
In Austria the Telecommunications Office has announced that young people will be permitted to send a greetings message over amateur radio during certain specified events

IARUMS November newsletter now available
The IARU Region 1 Monitoring System newsletter says in November the amateur radio 28 MHz band suffered from signals from fishing buoys along with Over The Horizon Radars (OTHR) which were heard every day

144 MHz signal from the Faroe Islands heard 3000kms away in Bulgaria during the Geminid Meteor Shower
During this year’s Geminid meteor shower, many radio amateurs worldwide were busy making contacts on the VHF bands by bouncing signals off the many meteor trails. One of the big suprises however was when the 144 MHz signal from Jon, OY9JD in the Faroe Islands was heard 3075 kms away in Bulgaria by LZ1KU!
