Hams on Hawaii Island have started a monthly siren net during the siren test which is conducted each month by county Civil Defense (HCCDA.)

The 2nd Net is on Monday Nov 2, 2020 at 11:25 am (early check-ins) 11:45 am (siren test) Use a AllStar Repeater or Simplex Node ( https://nh6tu.org/forms/BigIslandSirenRepeaterSimplexList.pdf ) ( tips ( https://nh6tu.org/forms/AllStarDMRTips.pdf ) ) near you. If you are unable to reach AllStar, you can use DMR Hawaii County Siren Net ( https://nh6tu.org/forms/HawaiiCountySirenNet.pdf ) as another option to pass your traffic. You can also email your report to Darrell KH6RDO firstname.lastname@example.org as it will be turned in to HCCDA that day. Please be sure to click the updates link above as we are still in BETA mode, mahalo all for your support!
All amateur radio operators are welcome to participate by reporting the siren status in your area or
wherever you are currently. Net Control (Malury KI6HBZ) will take early check-ins around 11:25 am
to see who is out there to help collect data and to prepare us prior to the siren test which starts at
11:45 am. Use ITU Phonetics ( https://rmrl.org/dl/ITU_PHONETICS.pdf ) where applicable as NCS will need the following information:
Callsign | Name | Siren Location | Loud & Clear | Weak | Not Working | Not Heard | Etc
Sirens needing to be monitored requested by Tom Olson from Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency:
* Ainaloa – WH6DVI Tony
* Alii Kai Subdivision – Kona
* Hakalau – KH6RDO Darrell
* Hawaii Prep Academy – Waimea
* Hilo Federal Building – WH6FYK Roy
* Kaimu – in Kalapana
* Kings Landing – Keaukaha
* Leilani Estates – by Community Center
* Mackenzie State Park
* Nanawale Estates – by Community Center
We are also looking for volunteer NCS(s) net script ( https://nh6tu.org/forms/BIMSNScript.pdf ) to log reports ( https://nh6tu.org/forms/BIMSNLog.pdf ) & DEC will pass it on to Civil Defense.
The Monthly Siren Test is activated every 1st day of the Month during a week day at 11:45 am. If the
1st falls on a weekend or Holiday, it will be moved to the next working day.
A big mahalo goes out to Jesse WH6AV, Dave AH6OD, Jim NH6HI & Wayne KH6IN for providing this
great service using the Hawaii Mainland Overseas Asterisk Network. We also appreciate all the sysops
who have made this possible.
