This week we finally saw the return of sunspots, over seven of the last eight days, January 24-30. Average daily sunspot numbers rose from 0 to 11.1, while average daily solar flux jumped from 71.2 to 72.9.

So tune in every Sunday at 10am UTC on 3975 and 6160 kHz.
The programme is repeated at 14:00 UTC on 6160 kHz and at 16:00 and 21:00 UTC on 3975 kHz

ARRL expands its roster of online discussion groups for members
The ARRL’s Committee on Communication with ARRL Members, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance and improve communications between the ARRL leadership and ARRL members and prospective members, has launched three new online discussion forums

Maine Bicentennial Special Event
Briefly, the Maine Bicentennial Special Event committee, formed from members of the Wireless Society of Southern Maine, along with KB1ZUN and AB1YO from the PenBay ARC, have organized an amateur radio Special Event that recognizes the Original 9 Counties of the State of Maine.

Margate RNLI teams up with Hilderstone Amateur Radio Society

Tony’s 10m Band Report
An absolutely rubbish week on ten metres. Sunday was the best day with loads of /B stations about. On Thursday J68GD (St Lucia) was on 10m, probably the best of the DX
Yesterday I worked VP5D (Turks and Caicos Is) using FT8 Fox & Hounds on 17m. Incredible. David’s QRZ page has a full set of instructions for using that mode. Most excellent and helpful. I commend that page to you
