Bar Code Lead Developer George Laurer, K4HZE, SK

December 14, 2019 02:29 PM – ARRL -The lead developer of the bar code system that became the now-ubiquitous Universal Product Code (UPC), George Laurer, K4HZE, of Wendell, North Carolina, died on December 5. European Space Agency Issues Challenge to Radio Amateurs

December 14, 2019 02:25 PM – ARRL -The European Space Agency (ESA) is challenging radio amateurs (or anyone with appropriate receiving equipment) to hear the first signals from ESA’s OPS-SAT space software laboratory. The spacecraft is set to launch on December 17 into a low-Earth orbit from French Guiana. Once in orbit, the satellite will deploy solar panels and a UHF antenna and begin transmitting.
