Belgium UBA – the OR0YAL Award
On the occasion of Princess Elisabeth’s eighteenth birthday, from October 25 to December 25, 2019, more than thirty UBA club stations will use the special prefix OR18. The UBA also offers a commemorative Award

WIA Board elections
The Constitution of the WIA specifically sets down the requirement for an election of half of the WIA Board every year. The next election is to be held in February 2020

VK7 Social Scene in 2020

Recent 3000km+ opening on 144 MHz between New Zealand and Australia reported
On the 1st of December 2019, there was an extensive Sporadic-E opening on 144 MHz in the south-eastern part of Australia

Iranian radar in 40m ham radio band
The latest IARU-R1 Monitoring System newsletter reports a radar in northern Iran has been operating on the 7 MHz amateur band

Radio Caroline North December
Join us on the River Blackwater for the final Radio Caroline North broadcast of 2019 over the weekend 14th – 15th December

African Parks-on-the-Air programme
At present there are 545 Parks registered for Southern Africa on the Worldwide Fauna and Flora database – 8 in Eswatini, 7 in Lesotho, 13 in Botswana, 10 in Mozambique, 26 each in Namibia and Zimbabwe and 455 in South Africa

Hawaii Island Amateur/Ham Radio News:

The Big Island Amateur Radio Club will host its annual potluck Christmas lunch and meeting on Saturday, 14 December 2019, 1400 HST, at the Keaau Community Center in Keaau, Hawaii Island.

The Original Big Island of Hawaii International Swap Meet/Ham Fest is set for Saturday, 25 January 2020, at the Waimea Community Center, next to the ball field off the Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea.  For details, contact Steve Milner (WH6N) at wh6n@arrl.net
