Hawaii early next month. Jim is a member of the League’s Executive
Committee and is the Chairman of the ARRL Legislative Advocacy
Committee, reporting to the ARRL Board of Directors.
We have been able to arrange meetings on Oahu with the Koolau Amateur
Radio Club (KARC) at their next club meeting on November 9th. The
Honolulu Emergency Amateur Radio Club (EARC) has scheduled an additional
event for their members to meet with Jim on November 8th.
On the Big Island a meeting for Hilo Amateurs is scheduled for November
12th and a smaller session with Kona members the day before.
Invitation to these meetings have or will be sent shortly. Contacts
KARC – Kimo Chun (KH7U)
EARC – Steve Kawamae (KH6WG)
KARS – Dewey Proietti (NH6M)/Bob Stoffer (AH6GT)
BIARC – Bob Schneider (AH6J)
The meetings will give members an opportunity to be briefed on the
status of ARRL activities
1. Amateur Radio Emergency Preparedness Act,
2. The ARES program enhancements and EmComm;
3. ARRL Baud Rate FCC petition,
4. The Volunteer Monitors program, and
5. Other matters of significance to the membership
For those who may not be able to attend one of these sessions, if there
is adequate interest, equipment and support staff may be arranged for
remote teleconferencing during the November 8th session (19:00-21:00
HST). This would allow a limited number of remote participants to follow
the discussion and Q&A afterwards.
If anyone is interested in participating via the teleconference, drop me
an email by Sunday November 3rd, and login credentials will be provided.
