Although many Hawaii radio amateurs are focusing on the 22-23 June 2019 ARRL Field Day, there is another “home-grown” event on the horizon worth your time. The “Grid Madness VHF/UHF Simplex Event” is coming 15 September 2019, from 1300-1700 HST.  Stan has put together a modest package explaining the event, its logging requirements, and how you can get a particiaption certificicate:

  • Print a log sheet or two and the entry form. Look over the rules. You are set to go!
  • With your VHF/UHF FM radio, contact as many stations as you can in as many grid squares as you can, using SIMPLEX ONLY.
  • Every participant submitting a log receives a certificate!

The next meeting of the Big Island Amateur Radio Club (BIARC) will be held on Saturday, 08 June 2019, 1400 HST, at the Keaau Community Center in Keaau, Hawaii Island.
