Hawaii Island Amateur/Ham Radio News:
Doug Wilson (KH7DQ) is offering two more free Technician License Classes on Hawaii Island this year: 23 May 2019 in Waimea (location TBA) and 17 October 2019 at the Keaau Community Center. The classes are free, with the normal $15 testing fee to ARRL, whose volunteers conduct the testing for the FCC. Current licensees wanting to upgrade also may take the tests. For more information, contact Doug at douscelle@aol.com.
Hawaii Island radio amateurs are encouraged to register for the new ARRL EMCOMM Course (EC-001). According to ARRL Pacific Section Manager Joseph Speroni (AH0A), “The ARRL has restructured it EmComm program to address the practical aspects of radio communications as well as the skills needed to better serve local communities in emergencies.” The first class set for Hawaii begins in June 2019. To sign up, please contact Pacific Section Emergency Coordinator Clem Jung (KH7HO) at kh7ho@arrl.net.
