Hawaii Island Amateur/Ham Radio Notes:

The Puna Emergency Radio Club (PERC) needs licensed Hawaii Island radio amateurs to provide communications support for the 17 March 2019 Big Island International Marathon in Hilo, Hawaii.  According to comms coordinator Sean Fendt (KH6SF), the race is “a prime opportunity to practice in-the-field-radio skills, learn news operating techniques and network with fellow hams and others who help with the marathon…”  For details, contact Sean at 430-1884 or via email — sean@sfendt.net.

Doug Wilson (KH6DQ) is offering a series of free Technician License classes on Hawaii Island,  The next class begins on 14 March 2019 at the West Hawaii Civic Center in Kona, Hawaii.  The six-week classes include five training sessions, with licensing exams given on the final week.  For more information, please contact Doug at douscelle@aol.com.

Alan Maenchen (AD6E/KH6TU) is taking registrations for his April 2019 Online CW course.  According to Alan, “This is an on-line video chat meeting twice a week for eight weeks for an hour each.  Exact days and time could change depending on student availability.  Since this is an internet based virtual classroom, no commute is needed.  You can do this from home.  Technician class hams can participate and practice their skills on their 80, 40, 15, and 10M CW allocations.”  For details, visit https://cwops.org/cw-academy-2/
