Quite a bit of interest has been generated by the forthcoming visit of Oscar Resto (KP4RF), the ARRL Section Manager for Puerto Rico. Planning is underway to schedule a presentation at Waimea and possibly at the LDS Church in Orchidland, just outside of Keaau in East Hawaii. The Orchidland venue is still being formed and details will be coming soon. I do have some information on the Waimea meeting.
My source is the HiCoARES@groups.io Digest #30 which can be accessed in full at the URL at the top of this post.
Here are some summary statements from that digest to complete your schedule for Oscar’s visit:

Hi Rick,
Steve WH7TW is looking into having the PR SM (KP4RF) give a talk on
hurricane Maria event at Keck in Waimea, if there’s any interest. Can you
please send this email to your N HI email list and ask for potential
attendees? Dates available are 28 and 29 August. Not clear if there is a
day or night preference by speaker or by attendees.
I don’t recall if I forwarded this to HiCoAres reflector or not. Will check.
Aloha, Norm, NH7UA

Hi all,
We have an opportunity of a visit by Oscar Resto (KP4RF), the ARRL Puerto
Rico Section Manager, to the BI. He will be in Hawaii for two weeks
beginning August 19th.
We are planning to share his visit with the BI ham groups and clubs for two
days – August 28 and 29. The idea is arrival late Monday August 27 in
either Kona or Hilo, depending on scheduled events. Departure lat
Wednesday.
Attached are his Bio and overview of the talk on the events following
hurricane Maria striking the island. He covers how Amateur Radio responded
in detail. With a PPT of about 50 slides so we estimate a total time of 2
hours, including audience Q&A.
If we proceed with a BI visit, we need your help to arrange meeting
facilities and invitations to audiences.
Oscar has agreed to edit the presentation for special audiences. For
hospital and medical staff, he is making a 1 hour talk focused on their
EMCOMM issues and how the local hams provided communications. That is a
possible talk and may be of interest to some hospitals based on their
recent involvement in the RIMPAC exercise.
Oscar also head the NASA PR program for kids building satellites launched
by NASA. We have had a request for such a presentation from one Oahu high
school.
Guys if you have interest in the talks could you help us schedule events.
Please coordinate with Bob Schneider (AH6J) and me so we can plan Oscan
travel logistics.
On Oahu we are planning press interviews. With a copy to Russ, I’m asking
him to see if there would be any interest in press interviews.
Best 73, Joe/AH0A
