Hi guys,
Enclosed is an invitation for all residents to hear a talk by the communications head of Puerto Rico outlining what was learned after the hurricane. Since most BI residents are highly interested in emergency prep right now, please pass the invitation along to the Safety Committee, CERT, community association, or anyone else that may be interested.
The presentation would be held at Keck in Waimea on either 8-28 or 8-29 if there is enough interest. We need to get a head count asap in order to secure a space.
Thanks, Ceri

From Joe Speroni ARRL Pacific section leader
We have an opportunity of a visit by Oscar Resto (KP4RF), the ARRL Puerto Rico Section Manager, to the BI. He will be in Hawaii for two weeks beginning August 19th.
We are planning to share his visit with the BI ham groups and clubs for two days – August 28 and 29. The idea is arrival late Monday August 27 in either Kona or Hilo, depending on scheduled events. Departure lat Wednesday.
Attached are his Bio and overview of the talk on the events following hurricane Maria striking the island. He covers how Amateur Radio responded in detail. With a PPT of about 50 slides so we estimate a total time of 2 hours, including audience Q&A.
If we proceed with a BI visit, we need your help to arrange meeting facilities and invitations to audiences.
Oscar has agreed to edit the presentation for special audiences. For hospital and medical staff, he is making a 1 hour talk focused on their EMCOMM issues and how the local hams provided communications. That is a possible talk and may be of interest to some hospitals based on their recent involvement in the RIMPAC exercise.
Oscar also head the NASA PR program for kids building satellites launched by NASA. We have had a request for such a presentation from one Oahu high school.
On Oahu we are planning press interviews. With a copy to Russ, I’m asking him to see if there would be any interest in press interviews.
Best 73, Joe/AH0A
Please contact Ceridwen or Richard if you plan to attend the Waimea meeting with Mr. Resto. Their email addresses and phone numbers are listed above. I’ve contacted the “Hawaii Tribune-Herald” regarding Mr. Resto’s visit, but I’ve had no response yet.
