Hawaii Island Amateur/Ham Radio Notes:

Jim Sugg (AH6AE) needs a radio amateur volunteer “to demo how ham radio works at (the) upcoming emergency preparedness fair in Waimea (Hawaii Island)…on Saturday, August 25, 2018, from 8am-12pm…” The event will be held in the Mana Christian Ohana Hall near the Kahilu Theatre.  If you can help with this event, please call Jim at (808) 747-4500 (mobile).

The 2018 Hawaiian Islands VHF/UHF Simplex Event known as the “Hawaiian Grid Madness” is set for Sunday, 16 September 2018, from 1300 to 1700 HST.  The Aulani Hui Amateur Repeater Club sponsors the event which “is designed to be FUN, and to test your equipment, coverage and operating skills using simplex FM on 2 meters and 70 cm…”  For details, visit https://gridmadness.blogspot.com.

    The FCC is closed today (Friday, June 18) in observance of the new Juneteenth federal holiday. Juneteenth, officially observed on June 19, celebrates the end of slavery in the US. Amateur radio applications and exam sessions filed after Thursday, June 17, night will not be processed until Monday, June 21.
