Everyone is invited to the HPP Radio Day on Saturday, 28 April 2018, from 0900 to 1600 HST, at the Paradise Park Community Center, 17th and Maku’u Drive in the Puna District. Coordinator Mike Stratton (KH6PAC) says “We want to let everyone know that the event is open to all hams, especially the newest ham operators…Our plan is to have several different radios set up…There will be lots of activities and demonstrations.” For details, contact Mike at jefffan@hotmail.com.
Don’t forget to sign up for the Big Island Amateur Radio Club’s QTH.NET Email Listserve. Coordinator Les Hittner (K0BAD) says “The main advantage of such a listserve is that you do not have to individually maintain a list of club-member address in order to enter into important converstations related to club operations.” Les adds that “The listserve provides a secure means of sending club email.” For more information, email Les at lhittner@hbci.com.
The next round of Amateur Radio Technician License prep classes begins on 03 May 2018 at the HOVE Community Center in Ocean View. The VE-administered exam will be held on 07 June 2018. The final round of Technician License prep classes will start on 01 November 2018 at the Keaau Community Center in Keaau. The VE-administered exam will be given on 06 December 2018. A test fee of $15.00 in exact change will be collected at the time of each exam. For details, contact Doug Wilson at douscelle@aol.com.
