Here are some DXpedition notes that may interest Hawaii Island radio amateurs:
3Y0Z Bouvet DXpedition update:
According to mission coordinator Ralph (K0IR), the expedionary vessel passed through the Straights of Magellan without incident, other than a bit of seasickness. During the long voyage to Bouvet Island near Antarctica, the DXpedition Team will be operating maritime mobile:
“We have one maritime mobile station active, with most of our QSOs on 20 and 40m. We are running 100 watts to a Hustler vertical on the bow of the ship and an OCF dipole hung from the bridge area. Our transmissions include grid square information. We hope to add a second station, soon.”
DXCC Country/Activity Report:
According to The Amateur Radio Cluster Network for the period 14-21 January 2018, there are 217 countries active in the DXCC Awards program.
Craig (VK5CE) says his next Islands On The Air (IOTA) DXpedition will be to three locations in Western Australia–OC-140, OC-170, and OC-199.
