Big Island of Hawaii International Swap Meet/Hamfest a big success.
On Saturday, 13 January 2018, Hawaii radio amateurs gathered at the Waimea Community Center to participate in the Big Island of Hawaii International Swap Meet/Hamfest. The Kohala Hamakua Radio Club organized the event, which included a ham radio equipment/electronics swap meet, a panel of distinguished guest speakers, and a VE test session for amateur radio licenses. Many thanks to Steve Milner (WH6N) and the Kohala Hamakua Radio Club for sponsoring this annual meeting.
Hawaii County CERT schedules new basic training course.
When disaster strikes your area, will you know what to do? You will if you register for the updcoming East Hawaii CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Training Course in Hilo. The basic CERT Training Course will be held on four successive Saturdays: 20 January, 27 January, 03 February, and 10 February 2018 at the Aupuni Conference Room in Hilo. CERT training provides you with knowledge and skills to prepare for and properly respond to an emergency impacting yourself, your family, and your community. New series of Technician License Prep Classes to be offered around Hawaii Island.
Beginning in February, 2018, a new series of Technician Class Amateur Radio License Preparation Classes will be offered at four Hawaii Island locations.
In Hilo, the prep classes begin on 15 February in the Aupuni Conference Room, with the exam set for 22 March 2018.
In Kona, the technician prep class begins on 22 March at the West Hawaii Civic Center in Kona, with the exam set for 26 April 2018.
In Ocean View, the technician prep class starts on 03 May at the HOVE Community Center, with the exam set for 07 June 2018.
In Keaau, the technician prep class begins on 01 November 2018 at the Keaau Community Center, with the exam set for 13 December 2018.
