One of the world’s most isolated pieces of real estate will soon be on the air, as 20 radio amateurs and their equipment get ready to put Bouvet Island on the amateur radio bands.  This remote, Antarctic island is a highly sought after contact by contesters and DX hobbyists.

In this video from “Ham Radio Now” (episode 368), Hal Tourley (W8HC) provides an excellent overview of the Bouvet Island DXpedition and the challenges radio amateurs will face on this isolated piece of rock.

Don’t forget the Big Island International Swap Meet/Hamfest on Saturday, 13 Janaury 2018, at the Waimea Community Center in Kamuela.  For details, contact Steve Milner (WH6N)–wh6n@arrl.net.
