EAST HAWAII CERT BASIC TRAINING COURSE, HILO 2018.
Become a member of Hawaii County’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). A new CERT Training Course will be held at Hilo’s Aupuni Conference Room, from 0830 to 1630 HST, on the following Saturdays:
20 January, 27 January, 03 February, and 10 February 2018. The four-part CERT program “will provide you with knowledge and skills to prepare for and properly respond to an emergency impacting yourself, your family, and your community.” To reserve your space, please go to Eventbrite (https://certhilo.eventbrite.com).
Big Island of Hawaii International Swap Meet/Hamfest.
The Big Island of Hawaii International Swap Meet/Hamfest is coming to the Waimea Community Center on Saturday, 13 January 2018. The event is sponsored by the Kohala Hamakua Radio Club and will feature a ham equipment swap meet, guest speakers, an informal Big Island Amateur Radio Club meeting, and a VE testing session. Doors open to the public at 0930, with VE testing scheduled for 1300 UTC. Admission is $10.00 for vendors and $5.00 for the general public. Talk-In on 147.32 MHz.
