Subject: Holiday musings from Russell Roberts (KH6JRM).
Christians around the world are celebrating Christmas from the bombed out ruins of Northern Iraq to the isolated valleys of West Virginia. Although Orthodox Christians will observe the holiday in early January 2018, the feeling of goodwill is temporarily displacing the usual mix of saber rattling and political rhetoric. All of us surely deserve a break from the bravado and boasting which has marked 2017. Let’s hope cooler heads will prevail in 2018.
In keeping with the spirit of the season, I offer three holiday observations from radio amateurs across the USA.
The Gift by Larry Makoski (W2LJ)–https://w3lj.blogspot.com. If the link is too broad, please enter the title and author in your browser search box. This is an excellent, uplifting article.
A Special Season’s Greetings from Stan Gibilisco (W1GV)–https://www.youtube.com.watch/v=oBFdcgIBm7#&feature=em-subs_digest.
The Night Before Christmas KH6 Style! From Kelly (KH6KM)–https://www.eham.net/articles/40549. A humorous story that will tickle your funny bone.
Don’t forget the Big Island of Hawaii International Swap Meet/Hamfest on Saturday, 13 January 2018 at the Waimea Community Center. The event is sponsored by the Kohala Hamakua Radio Club and will feature a ham equipment swap meet, guest speakers, and a VE session for amateur radio licenses. For details, contact Steve Milner (WH6N)–wh6n@arrl.net.
Please send your Hawaii Island Amateur Radio news stories to kh6jrm@arrl.net at least two weeks prior to your event so I can notify our local print and broadcast media in a timely manner.
