A fantastic job from all those who participated in the 17 September 2017 Hawaii Islands Grid Madness VHF/UHF simplex event.
Here are some of the highlights of that four-hour “contest”:
First place mobile station: Rob (WH6DXW).
First place base station: John (K6CJJ).
First place HT: Kent (KH6CJJ).
First place club: Maui Amateur Radio Club.
Total grids reporting: 58.
Number of active participants: 453.
Initial data indicate more participants and more grid squares activated than last year (2016).
Be sure to click the access link to see the photos, comments, coverage maps, and established simplex links from this year’s event.
And speaking of events, don’t forget the 2017 Simulated Emergency Test (SET) on Saturday, 21 October 2017, from 0800 to 1300 HST. I will publish an updated article about the 2017 SET later this week.
