In other news, Hawaii will be hosting two major operating events in August and September.
First, the Hawaii QSO Party will be held from 0400 UTC, 26 August 2017 to 0400 UTC, 28 August 2017. The purpose of the event is to encourage radio amateurs to enter the world of HF, DXing, and contesting. Participants will also help other hams get Hawaii for their WAS (Worked All States) Award.
Second, Hawaii Grid Madness 2017 will be held Sunday, 17 September 2017, from 1300 to 1700 HST. This VHF/UHF simplex contest is sponsored by the Aulani Hui Amateur Repeater Club.
