Thanks to Stacy Holbrook (KH6OWL) for this extensive report on the 02 July 2017 Geek Meet held at Honolulu’s Magic Island Park. Stacy has included an excellent selection of photos to show how members of the Emergency Amateur Radio Club (EARC) reached out to the public and encouraged attendees to consider Amateur Radio as part of their lives. The EARC booth and operating tents attracted between 200 and 300 people throughout the day. All told, a very successful day for Amateur Radio.
REPEATER TEST JULY 4th at NOON
On Monday evening (03 July 2017), I received a nice note from Eric (KH6CQ), the District Emergency Coordinator-Hawaii Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) concerning today’s (04 July 2017) test of the VOAD repeater on Hawaii Island. According to Eric, the VOAD repeater will be tested at noon on its frequency of 146.72 MHz. Eric isn’t sure whether access will be by carrier squelch or by tone access. The exact signin format will be announced when the repeater is activated.
