Contesting is an excellent way for ARES volunteers to sharpen their operating skills. Although there are many events to join, the 14th Antarctic Activity Week offers a special attraction. Antarctic Activity Week continues through Sunday, 26 February 2017.
The goal of this contest is to encourage interest in the Antarctic region and continent and to further scientific research in this land “at the bottom of the world.” To date, 37 amateur radio stations have signed up to be on the air.
A special award will be given to radio amateurs who special event stations commemorating this event:
“To commemorate the 14th International Antarctic Week, a very Special Award will be issued to all Radio Amateurs worldwide who contact a number of special event stations that will be active on the HF bands.
The Special Diploma will be sent free of charge in PDF format to all participants that fulfill the required number of contacts on each category.”
