Big Island ARRL News, 12 February 2017, 16:20 hrs, UTC, Post #118.
Skywarn training is about to begin. On Saturday, 11 February 2017, I received this e-mail from Eric Grabowski (KH6CQ), the North Hawaii Skywarn Coordinator:
“Date: Saturday, February 11, 2017, 7:33 PM
> Aloha,
> The
> NWS is in the process of figuring out when to hold training
> for those interested in becoming SKYWARN Spotters as well as
> those whose training was more than 3 years ago and need to
> re-certify.
>
> Harvey, AH6JA, needs to inform NWS how many Hams are
> interested in attending the training. The class, which lasts
> about 2 hours, may be held in Kona and possibly Waimea if
> there is enough interest. In the past, the NWS held classes
> in East, South, and North Hawaii but not in West Hawaii,
> i.e., Kona.
>
> So
> if you’re interested in attending, please let me know by
> 15 FEB so I can forward the replies to Harvey. Then,
> I’ll let you know when and where the NWS decides to hold
> the class. There is no charge for the class.
