Great article from the “Elko Daily Free Press” showing how amateur radio and public service agencies bring awareness of Amateur Radio to young people.
Thanks to the Elko County Sheriff’s Department, northern Nevada amateur radio clubs were able to secure a rescue/communications truck as an operating location for the annual Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) event in October.
In 2015, JOTA attracted nearly one million scouts and almost 20,000 radio amateurs to to international contest. More than 17,776 ham stations from 151 nations participated in this world wide event.
Don’t forget to attend the Big Island Hawaii International Swap Meet and Hamfest on Saturday, 12 November 2016, at Waimea Community Center, next to the ball field in Waimea. The event runs between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. HST. For details, contact Steve Milner: wh6n@arrl.net.
