Big Island ARRL News update for 14 September 2014.
ARRL Pacific Section, Section Manager, Joseph Speroni (AH0A) sent me this update on the House of Representatives’approval of the Amateur Radio Parity Act:
By now most of you have read ARRL President Rick Roderick’s (K5UR) email asking our support in contacting Hawaii senators. the suggested link to submit support for Senate action is well done and simplifies the process. Please consider supporting this effort to get Senate action this year.
If you have personal experience with the antenna issues, try to include it in your supporting document.
A point to be made is the importance of Hawaii Amateur Radio volunteers being able to support our communities by participation n SKYWARN, HealthComm, CERTS (Communications), and State and County Civil Defense/Emergency Management Agencies. Any history of activity adds to your comments.
The ARRL has been involved in this bill even before it was formally submitted to the House in March 2015. Negotiations proceeded with parties representing HOAs resulting in language protecting their rights.
For those who may want to better understand the history of the ARRL involvement in the “Amateur Radio Parity Act”, the League has an excellent synopsis on our web site at, http://www.arrl.org/amateur-radio-parity-act.
